The role, which involves delivering an opening monologue and performing in sketches alongside the cast, has historically been filled by established comedians or musicians. Former hosts include Danny DeVito, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Tom Hanks, Jonah Hill, Bill Murray, Paul Simon, and Justin Timberlake.
