2021 LDV Deliver 9 price and specs: China's big van arrives

The 2021 LDV Deliver 9 has been revealed, undercutting the price of some of the biggest vans in the segment by up to $20,000. Pricing for the mid-wheelbase (MWB) Mid Roof starts at $42,095 drive-away for the manual, with the automatic costing $43,148 drive-away. LDV says it's going after the motorhome industry with the Deliver 9, offering a manual long-wheelbase (LWB) cab-chassis variant for $42,095 drive-away, or $44,726 drive-away for the auto.

A US high school teacher is facing legal action – and $US4000 ($AU6000) in costs – after being accused of renting a turbocharged Toyota Supra performance coupe from a car-sharing service and used the vehicle in a racing competition without the owner’s knowledge. The high-school teacher from Indiana – and his team of female mechanic students – were on their way to compete in the 2023 U.S. Mile land-speed trials in Texas last month. The girls and their teacher had built a high-performance Chevrolet S10 pick-up for the ‘Texas Mile’ – a competition which sees vehicles try to achieve the highest possible speed from a standing start within one-mile (1.6km) on a runway. The 2021 McLaren Artura will be unveiled on 17 February 2021, an invite sent to some of the brand's Chinese customers has confirmed. An RSVP invite distributed to customers by McLaren's Guangzhou showroom – and subsequently reposted on Spanish forum Cochespias – confirms the next-generation hybrid supercar will make its full debut on February 17, local time.

Melbourne City Council has announced plans to allow the public to suggest names for new roads and locations in the city. Names proposed for roads must meet the 1998 Geographic Place Names Act to ensure they are not duplicated or offensive, and support the local community interests – and they can can be submitted by community members, landholders and developers. The draft policy will defer naming proposals back to the community, with a preference for “Aboriginal language names and the names of women who have contributed to Melbourne’s historical development.” According to the Council, this is intended to “correct the imbalance” of naming representation in Melbourne – which in the past 20 years has seen 50 new roads named after men, 23 named after women, and six the use local Aboriginal language. Volkswagen Golf global launch delayed until late February 2020
