A steep rise in Victoria's coronavirus cases has prompted Premier Daniel Andrews to re-implement stay-at-home restrictions, with residents of Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire facing another six weeks of stage-three lockdown. The heightened risk of community transmission and a growing number of daily cases also saw New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian close the border between the two states from midnight on July 7, 2020, until further notice.
