Uber: Five-star ANCAP requirement comes into force

Every new Uber will need to be a five-star ANCAP car, with new rules about what the ride-sharing giant's drivers can use today coming into force. Announced in April this year, the policy means new Uber X drivers won't be accepted unless their car is less than 10 years old with the maximum possible safety rating. Uber Black, Lux and SUV cars must be less than seven years old. Drivers adhering to the current standards will have two years to get themselves a five-star vehicle.
