2003-04 Mazda RX-8 recalled

Mazda Australia has issued a recall for the 2003 and 2004 model-year RX-8 rotary sports car over concerns of a cracked lower control arm. The Japanese brand reports affected vehicles could have ball joint casings in the front lower control arm that could crack over time, due to "an inappropriate production process". "Under high load conditions, the ball joint casing may break, which may cause the ball joint to detach from the lower arm," the company says in the recall notice.
