Audi TT, R8 join Takata airbag recall

Audi has added the current-generation TT and R8 to its Takata recall list, As with all Takata-related recalls, affected vehicles are fitted with airbag inflator propellant that, when exposed to heat and humidity, can degrade over time. In the case of these Audis, it's the driver's airbag that is affected. In the event of an accident triggering the airbag, the metal inflator housing can rupture under the pressure, sending metal fragments shooting into the cabin.
