Ford reveals special F-Series trucks and SUVs for SEMA

Ford has revealed a set of concept vehicles for the 2017 SEMA show, this time based on its F-Series truck and SUV range.

While there are too many individual cars to detail all of them, here are three of our favourites:

Ford F-150 by Air Design (top)

The best selling car in America has been given a makeover, inspired by the sport truck mania of the 1990s, including a range of accessories by Air Design.

Under the bonnet is the same 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 Ecoboost engine hooked up to a 10-speed automatic transmission as the standard car, though a Ford Performance cat-back exhaust has been fitted for a better sound.

Air Design has applied numerous enhancements from its new Street Series range, including a full body kit, bonnet scoop, fender vents, rear spoiler and tailgate applique.

There’s also a Maxtrac kit to lower the car, with Bilstein shocks, Recaro leather seats, Focal speakers, along with an Astell & Keam Kann high-resolution digital music player.

Vaccar Ecosport

Ford’s littlest SUV hasn’t been left out, with Vaccar giving the top-spec Titanium grade a ‘Woodsman’-themed overhaul to make it like a “trendy lumberjack”.

Finished in metallic burgundy, the Vaccar Ecosport concept features a new intake and axle-back exhaust system, Konig alloy wheels with Continental all-terrain tyres, six-inch light bars and two-tone exterior highlights.

Inside, there’s also an Audio by Kicker sound system with a 10-inch subwoofer and 600.1 mono amplifier, a personal vault, and a SCT GTX WD in-car monitor.

‘Baja Forged Adventurer’ Expedition

This special version of the Ford Expedition has been inspired by the West Coast, featuring room for the whole family and their kit for an off-road adventure.

LGE-CTS Motorsports is responsible for this rugged seven-seater, which has been upgraded with a Borla cat-back exhaust, larger wheel arch flares, 35-inch mud tyres, a roof-top tent, refrigerator, and beefier suspension.

There’s also bigger brakes, a custom paint job, an LED light bar, custom leather seats by Rogelio’s, a rear entertainment system for the kids, all-weather floor mats, and an Audio by Kicker sounds system.

A high-school teacher in the US could be more than $6000 out of pocket if he is found to have violated the terms of use of a rented Toyota Supra driven to a top speed record. A US high school teacher is facing legal action – and $US4000 ($AU6000) in costs – after being accused of renting a turbocharged Toyota Supra performance coupe from a car-sharing service and used the vehicle in a racing competition without the owner’s knowledge. The high-school teacher from Indiana – and his team of female mechanic students – were on their way to compete in the 2023 U.S. Mile land-speed trials in Texas last month. 2021 McLaren Artura to debut February 17

The 2021 McLaren Artura will be unveiled on 17 February 2021, an invite sent to some of the brand's Chinese customers has confirmed. An RSVP invite distributed to customers by McLaren's Guangzhou showroom – and subsequently reposted on Spanish forum Cochespias – confirms the next-generation hybrid supercar will make its full debut on February 17, local time.

Melbourne council asks the public to name new roads. What could go wrong?

Have you ever dreamed of living in Streety McStreetface Street, Warnieville? Here’s your chance. Melbourne City Council has announced plans to allow the public to suggest names for new roads and locations in the city. Names proposed for roads must meet the 1998 Geographic Place Names Act to ensure they are not duplicated or offensive, and support the local community interests – and they can can be submitted by community members, landholders and developers. The draft policy will defer naming proposals back to the community, with a preference for “Aboriginal language names and the names of women who have contributed to Melbourne’s historical development.” According to the Council, this is intended to “correct the imbalance” of naming representation in Melbourne – which in the past 20 years has seen 50 new roads named after men, 23 named after women, and six the use local Aboriginal language. Chevrolet Silverado 2500 reaches the end of the line in Australia, only 100 remain

The current generation Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pick-up from the US – powered by a 6.6-litre V8 turbo diesel with an epic output of 332kW/1234Nm and a 5890kg towing capacity – has almost sold out in Australia. 2021 Volkswagen Talagon unveiled in China as brand’s biggest SUV yet

Volkswagen Golf global launch delayed until late February 2020

Jürgen Stackmann, head of the Volkswgen brand, has confirmed to Automotive News Europe the new Golf will have its global launch on the week beginning February 24, 2019.
